OVC FY24 Antiterrorism and Emergency Assistance Program for Crime Victim Compensation and/or Assistance - Santa Clara - Invited to Apply

The County of Santa Clara proposes to implement the 526 Resiliency Center. The purpose is to provide long-term support for Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) employees, their families, and first responders impacted by the VTA mass shooting on May 26, 2021, in San Jose, CA. Project activities include providing trauma-focused individual and group counseling, alternative interventions, advocacy and care coordination, psychoeducation, training for victim advocates, behavioral health providers, and first responders, and creating a VTA peer support team to allow for sustainable support services beyond the grant term .  Expected outcomes include provision of evidence-based services; reduction in post-trauma symptoms; increase in social supports and connections; knowledge and connection to local resources, and developing and implementing a VTA peer support team for long-term sustainable support.  The Bill Wilson Center for Living with Dying is an intended beneficiary of the project. Subrecipient activities include clinical mental health services, Psychological First Aid training, and programming support.
