Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $399,980)
Ms. Countryman-Roswurm will implement the You Belong Project: Identifying and Promoting Culturally Responsive, Strength-Based Approaches in the Anti-Trafficking Field (hereinafter referred to as Project). The purpose is to assist the anti-trafficking field in identifying and promoting culturally responsive, strength-based service models and activities. Utilizing an intentional process of planning, gathering research-based information, collecting practice information from the field, analyzing composed information, creating resources, and sharing implementation materials, this Project consists of six core components: (1) project management and reporting; (2) information gathering, intentional inquiry, collaborative making-sense sessions, and analysis; (3) development of culturally responsive, strength-based criteria and program cataloging; (4) development of implication and implementation resources; (5) collection of data and performance measures; and (6) project dissemination. Expected outcomes include an increased awareness of culturally responsive, strength-based (as well as self-deterministic, victim-centered, and survivor-informed/led) approaches; an understanding of the implications of such approaches on OVC policies, OVC-funded grantees, and the broader anti-trafficking field; and an ability—through knowledge and resources—to apply and integrate culturally responsive, strength-based approaches into organization and program practices.
