Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $450,000)

The Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance Program is created to support tribal nations' efforts to develop or enhance and sustain a comprehensive victim assistance program that: 1) provides a coordinated collaborative multidisciplinary response to victims of crime, their families and community, and 2) provides trauma-informed, culturally competent holistic services to victims of crime, family, and community. With this funding the Wiconi Wawokiya, Inc. will continue to provide 24/7 crisis counseling, advocacy with agencies and the court, support groups, the costs of substance abuse treamtment and transportation, emergency food services, emergency medical and dental care, information and referral, and emergency financial assistance for adults, including the elderly and emancipated youth. Additionally, victims will receive support to attend classes for parenting and/or to obtain a GED. Funding will also support cultural healing ceremonies fr those seeking traditional methods to address their trauma. CA/NCF
