Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $694,698)
DOJ and OVC have long recognized the critical need to support American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) victims of crime. Over time, OVC has conducted a number of tribal consultations and listening sessions to gather input from our AI/AN partners regarding the Crime Victims Fund tribal victim services set-aside. Based on the information gathered, OVC will allocate the FY 2020 funding by an interim discretionary administrative formula. With this funding, the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska will enhance and expand their current Domestic Violence Program to ensure that quality services are provided to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, dating violence and stalking over a 3-year project period. The project will 1.) expand the number of program staff available to provide one to one support to clients; 2.) increase training opportunities for staff; 3.) provide cultural and therapeutic activities for victims of crime and their children, including a beading therapy group for shelter residents; and 4.)increase coordination on behalf of victims by hosting Coordinated Community Response Team Meetings on a quarterly basis.
