Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $472,794)

The goal of the FY 2020 Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to support housing assistance for victims of all forms of human trafficking throughout the United States, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this solicitation supports programs that provide 6 to 24 months of transitional housing with support services to victims of human trafficking who are in need of housing as a result of human trafficking. Funding will be provided over a three-year project period. Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) Brainerd will expand the existing Saving Grace Transitional Housing Program to serve an additional five victims (0f any age) of sex trafficking per year. Saving Grace currently serves youth victims of sex trafficking in rural Central Minnesota. The project model combines short-term housing assistance, for at least 6 months and no more than 24 months, with intensive individualized trauma-responsive case management. Case management services will include, but are not limited to: housing search, landlord/tenant advocacy, safety planning, transportation assistance, education/employment search, independent living skills, community connectedness, limited legal services, mental/physical/chemical health treatment connections, and other services deemed necessary.
