Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $497,504)
The goal of the FY 2020 Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to support housing assistance for victims of all forms of human trafficking throughout the United States, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this solicitation supports programs that provide 6 to 24 months of transitional housing with support services to victims of human trafficking who are in need of housing as a result of human trafficking. Funding will be provided over a three-year project period. The overall goal of New Day New Home transitional housing program and housing assistance is to provide a safe and therapeutic residence where survivors can work on their goals of self-sufficiency and be connected to the supports needed to obtain and maintain permanent housing upon exit. New Day New Home has strong partnerships with the housing systems and resources in both Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties and through this solicitation will leverage these partnerships to provide housing support for survivors, as well as provide technical assistance and training to both housing systems in order to increase identification of human trafficking. New Day New Home will fulfill the following goals and objectives: 1. Provide trauma-informed comprehensive housing services for victims of human trafficking through a transitional housing and housing assistance model. Increase access to wrap around services with a diverse array of housing providers in the community to ensure housing permanency upon exit from the transitional housing program. 2. Provide comprehensive therapeutic supports for survivors of human trafficking in the transitional housing program. Provide comprehensive case management and service linkages that value autonomy and self-determination tailored to meet the individualized needs of each victim of human trafficking to support goals of independence and self-sufficiency. 3. Increase community collaboration and identification of victims of human trafficking across Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties that need housing assistance. Train and offer technical assistance to local Continuum of Care (CoC) housing systems on victim identification and trauma-informed victim centered care for survivors of human trafficking. CA/NCF
