Resources and Support for the Victims at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas


OVC extends our support for the victims and the campus community impacted by the shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) on December 6, 2023.

Below is a list of resources that may provide comfort and support during this difficult time.

Resources for victim service providers, law enforcement, first responders, and community and faith leaders responding to this tragedy are also listed.

Vegas Strong Resiliency Center

The Vegas Strong Resiliency Center(link is external) offers mental health, victim advocacy, and other services to anyone impacted by the shooting. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call 702-455-AIDE (702-455-2433) or use their virtual intake form(link is external) to access services.

Services for UNLV Students, Faculty, and Staff

UNLV's Student Counseling and Psychological Services(link is external) will be providing crisis support services to students both in-person and via telehealth. Call 702-895-3627 or email bcaps@unlv.edu to access services.

The Student Health Center and Faculty and Staff Treatment Center plan to be open with full healthcare services available. Call 702-895-3370 for more information.

UNLV faculty and staff are also encouraged to use the Employee Assistance Program(link is external).

Victim Helplines

VictimConnect

VictimConnect(link is external) is an OVC-funded service that offers confidential assistance to victims of crime. Trained specialists are available to help you locate services in your area, including mental health counseling, legal services, and more. Disaster Distress Helpline

The Disaster Distress Helpline, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, is a national hotline dedicated to year-round disaster crisis counseling.

This 24/7 toll free, multilingual, crisis support service is available to residents in the United States and its territories experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters, including incidents of mass violence. Call or text the hotline at 800-985-5990.

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline(link is external) is a source of support available 24/7 to people in crisis, including people experiencing challenging reactions to disasters. Support is available in English or Spanish.

Victim Compensation

The Nevada Crime Victims’ Compensation Program(link is external), funded in part by OVC, may help offset a victim’s financial burden related to funeral, mental health, medical, and other expenses. Contact information for this program is:
