Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $750,000)

The Exodus Road proposes to implement Training and Technical Assistance to Combat Human Trafficking. This project will focus on improving the prevention and investigation of human trafficking across the state of Colorado. Two curriculums will be created and implemented with different target audiences. Colorado law enforcement will be trained on human trafficking basics, advanced investigation techniques, appropriate use of investigative technology, trauma-informed best practices, and survivor-centered approaches. Colorado teens and their parents or guardians will be educated on human trafficking and digital safety, covering such topics as digital wellness, online sexual exploitation, sextortion, and the prevention of human trafficking. Training can occur both in-person and online and includes resources for practical follow-up. Target audiences, communities, and law enforcement agencies will be selected based on risk factors, community interest, and availability. The overall goal of this project is to increase awareness, knowledge, practice, and capacity across the State of Colorado to combat human trafficking.
