Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,550,000)
The Cobb Family Advocacy Center is the first recognized Family Justice Center model in the state of Georgia. With an expansive partnership of over 40 agencies, including nonprofits, private, and business sector partners, the Cobb Family Advocacy Center (FAC) is requesting funds to successfully move the Center into additional phases of operations and complete the full development of the site location – work that will allow the FAC to transform the delivery of services for victims in Cobb County, Georgia.
The FAC is an evidenced-based, Family Justice Center model that establishes a collaborative community response with local law enforcement and domestic violence service providers to address and reduce the incidents of domestic violence, child and elder abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking, including incidents involving immigrant victims and those victims challenged by language barriers when seeking services. As a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency framework, Family Justice Centers have been studied and recognized as a best practice to improve services for survivors of family violence, advance the criminal justice response, improve the civil legal response to domestic violence, and most importantly, increase victim safety and access to critical services.
This funding will launch the Center into full operation, enhance and expand partner space for co-locating, enhance the counseling clinic, provide training for partners and community, build a strong and sustainable volunteer/intern program, and provide for the immediate needs of the clients we serve. These priority areas will safeguard daily operations, produce long-term sustainability of the Cobb Family Advocacy Center, and truly transform victim services in our community.
