Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $790,000)

The King County Sexual Assault Resource Center (KCSARC) proposes to implement the Technology and Data Project to Benefit Survivors of Sexual Assault. The purpose is to modernize KCSARC’s database in order to increase the amount of staff time spent directly with survivors and resources available to provide services such as a 24-hour resource line, therapy, case management, advocacy, and more; increase survivors’ sense of being supported; decrease staff time spent manually inputting data; increase staff efficiency; decrease staff time spent manually scrubbing data for use in funders’ required reports; allow staff to use KCSARC data to its full potential, strengthening survivor voices, and adding depth to anecdotal stories; increase availability and accessibility of data for funders, media, and policy makers in King County, Washington state. Project activities include the purchase and license commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software; configure the basic system; train super users; build and customize the COTS; build reports; migrate data; and train staff. Expected outcomes include better data security; cost savings; improved accessibility; scalability; increased efficiency; enhanced disaster recovery; improved compliance; better analytics; better customer service and more time spent with survivors; and increased competitive advantage. Survivors of sexual assault are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
