World Society of Victimology

The World Society of Victimology is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that advances victimological research and practices around the world; encourages interdisciplinary and comparative work and research in this field, and advances cooperation between international, national, regional, and local agencies and other groups who are concerned with the problems of victims.

VictimLaw

VictimLaw is a unique and groundbreaking resource, which offers user-friendly access to thousands of victims' rights statutes (state and federal), Tribal laws, constitutional amendments, court rules, and administrative code provisions. VictimLaw is managed by the OVC Training and Technical Assistance Center.

U.S. Department of Justice: Tribal Justice and Safety

The Tribal Justice and Safety website provides information for American Indian and Alaska Native Tribal governments to further improve the safety of their communities. This site also provides information to the general public and other federal agencies to better understand the resources available for improving safety in American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Privacy Rights Clearinghouse

The clearinghouse provides identity theft resources, consumer information, publications, and advocacy.

Prevent Child Abuse America

Prevent Child Abuse America promotes prevention strategies and provides advocacy, programs, resources, and answers to commonly asked questions about child abuse and neglect.

U.S. Department of Justice: Office on Violence Against Women

The Office on Violence Against Women provides federal leadership to reduce violence against women and to administer justice for and strengthen services to all victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: Office of Refugee Resettlement

The Office of Refugee Resettlement helps refugees and other special populations (such as adult victims of severe forms of trafficking) obtain economic and social self-sufficiency in the United States. They are responsible for certifying adult victims of human trafficking so that they may receive federally funded benefits and services to the same extent as refugees.

National Organization for Victim Advocacy

The National Organization for Victim Advocacy advocates for dignity and compassion for those harmed by crime. Among the services they provide are skill-based and survivor-centered training to victim advocates and crisis responders.

National Indian Justice Center

The National Indian Justice Center is an independent national resource for Tribal courts. The Center designs and delivers legal education, research, and technical assistance programs to help improve Tribal courts systems and the administration of justice in American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

National Crime Victim Law Institute

This organization actively promotes comprehensive and enforceable legal rights for crime victims, and access to knowledgeable attorneys to help protect those rights in every case, through victim centered legal advocacy, education, and resources.

National CASA/GAL Association for Children

This organization provides advocacy, public education, and resources for court appointed special advocate (CAS) and guardian ad litem (GAL) programs across the country. The association also trains CASA and GAL volunteers, who work to find safe, permanent homes for abused and neglected children.

National Coalition Against Domestic Violence

This grassroots membership organization provides technical assistance, networking, and support to programs and state coalitions serving battered women and their children. This coalition also provides information and referrals to the general public and the media.

National Center on Elder Abuse

The National Center on Elder Abuse provides the latest information regarding research, training, best practices, news, and resources on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation to professionals and the public.

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)

NCMEC works to locate and recover missing children and raises public awareness about ways to prevent child abduction, molestation, and sexual exploitation. NCMEC offers a 24-hour, toll free hotline, 800-THE-LOST (800-843-5678), a CyberTipline to collect leads from the public, and online resources on finding missing children and assisting families.

National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys

The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys provides information, education, networking, and assistance on the many specialized issues involved with legal services to older adults and persons with disabilities.

International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect

The International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect supports individuals and organizations working toward the protection of child rights and the prevention and treatment of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation through publications, congresses, professional training events, and worldwide activities.

Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma

The Institute is a resource and training center and provides information on many areas of family violence and sexual assault.

Futures Without Violence

Futures Without Violence offers resources for healthcare professionals, employers, educators, policy leaders, advocates, survivors, and others seeking information on domestic and sexual violence, harassment, stalking, human trafficking, and child abuse.

Department of Defense: Victim and Witness Assistance Council

The Council provides information and resources about assistance available to victims and witnesses of crimes on military installations.

Child Welfare League of America

The Child Welfare League of America is a coalition of hundreds of private and public agencies that serves abused and neglected children and their families. Services include child abuse prevention and treatment, youth programs, residential treatment, child daycare, and family preservation.

Child Welfare Information Gateway

A service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Child Welfare Information Gateway promotes the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families by providing publications, research, and learning tools selected by experts to support thriving children, youth, families, and communities.

Child Find of America

This nonprofit charity works to locate missing children for free and works to prevent child abduction. Child Find performs investigations, distributes photos, mediates, and disseminates information to the public. In-house location staff can be reached by calling 800-I-AM-LOST (800-426-5678). Parents in conflict can call 800-716-3468 to access comprehensive information and referrals from the Parent Help program.

U.S. Department of Justice: Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS)

CEOS works to combat incidences of child exploitation and trafficking of women and children. Issues under the CEOS umbrella include child pornography, illegal interstate or international transportation of women and children, international parental abduction, computer-related exploitation of children, and child victimization on federal and Indian lands.

Office on Trafficking in Persons: Look Beneath the Surface

This campaign works to raise awareness of human trafficking and the factors that make certain populations more at risk. The site offers downloadable campaign materials that your organization can use in your public awareness efforts.
