This report by the Sexual
Assault Forensic Evidence Reporting (SAFER) Act Working Group presents its consensus recommendations on best practices for managing the processes for creating and processing sexual assault kits (SAKs).
Abstract
This report contains 35 recommendations that help provide a roadmap for agencies to develop or advance their policies and protocols for untested sexual assault kits. The recommendations are rooted in a victim-centric, multidisciplinary approach that encourages victim engagement and increases the potential for legal resolutions.
