This publication constitutes the Office for Victims of Crime’s report for FY 2021 on the Crime Victims Fund Tribal Set-Aside Program.
This report provides information about the FY 2021 Crime Victims Fund Tribal Set-Aside Program. The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Biden Administration have a long-standing commitment to improve services for victims of crime in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. On January 13 and January 14, 2022, the Department consulted with tribal leaders about “tribal set-aside” funding administered by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) from the Crime Victims Fund (CVF). Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Consultations were held virtually using a video and telephone conferencing platform. The Department presents this paper to help educate Consultation participants about the history of OVC’s tribal set-aside, and inform them about how the funds were used in Fiscal Year (FY) 2021. OVC’s Tribal Division administers the Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Formula grant program (TVSSA Program) and OVC’s other tribal-specific grant programs. The report also covers the history of the OVC Tribal Set-Aside Program.
