National Impaired Driving Prevention Month
December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month and we are highlighting the following resources to help the field serve victims of impaired driving.
Watch the DUI Crashes: Real Crimes, Real Victims video, which emphasizes that DUI crash victims should receive the same compassionate services that other victims of violent crime receive. This video, created by the National Sheriffs’ Association with funding from OVC, describes the importance of clearly communicating to victims that services are available to them, including crime victim compensation.
Learn essential skills to assist victims and families following an impaired driving incident through the OVC Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC).
- Victim Assistance Training Online is a free, self-paced training that includes modules on Impaired Driving and Victims With Substance Abuse Issues.
- Visit OVC TTAC’s Past Webinars page to access the Expert Q&A recording on Providing Services to Victims of Impaired Driving and DUI Crashes.

Explore the iMPRoVE National Dashboard: Powerful Victim Service Insights
OVC is excited to highlight the recent launch of the iMPRoVE (Measures for Providers Responding to Victimization Experiences) National Dashboard.
This public tool provides a comprehensive look at the outcomes and quality of victim services across the country, based on feedback from nearly 12,000 victims and survivors served by more than 400 victim service providers.
The dashboard offers valuable insights for a wide range of stakeholders. Service providers can use it to benchmark their findings and identify opportunities for growth. State Administering Agencies can pinpoint areas where additional training or funding may be needed. Coalitions, policymakers, and researchers can also leverage the data to advocate for resources, evaluate program impact, and showcase the vital role victim services play in supporting survivors.
This innovative resource underscores OVC’s commitment to evidence-based approaches in improving outcomes for those impacted by crime. Explore iMPRoVE’s National Dashboard today for a better understanding of how victims perceive the services they receive, nationwide.
RTI International and its partners manage the iMPRoVE project with support from OVC, the National Institute of Justice, and the Office on Violence Against Women.
