Compensation Is Available for Victims Trafficked Through Backpage.com and CityXGuide.com

On July 31, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) established the Backpage Remission Program to compensate individuals who were sex trafficked through advertisements hosted on Backpage.com and/or CityXGuide.

Victims of sex trafficking advertised on Backpage.com from January 1, 2004, to April 6, 2018, or on CityXGuide.com from April 8, 2018, to June 19, 2020, are eligible to apply for remission for monetary losses caused by the sex trafficking.

The deadline to file a petition for remission is February 2, 2026.

Note: The Remission Administrator, Epiq Global Inc. (Epiq), and DOJ will not ask for any payment to participate in this remission process. The funds for this remission program come from the forfeited assets of Backpage and CityXGuide.

To learn more about the remission process, including who is eligible, how to get a petition form, updates and answers to common questions, visit the official Backpage Remission website or call Epiq toll-free at 888-859-9206. You can also download and share a one-page summary of the program.
