Office of Community Oriented Policing Services: Drug Endangered Children Training Series (link is external)

The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services at the U.S. Department of Justice, in partnership with the National Alliance For Drug Endangered Children, created a four-part training series to help professionals serve the needs of drug endangered children. The training covers: an overview of the issue, the long-term impact and needs of drug endangered children,prenatal substance exposure, and postnatal substance exposure.

The Vicarious Trauma Toolkit

The Vicarious Trauma Toolkit (VTT) was developed on the premise that exposure to the traumatic experiences of other people—known as vicarious trauma—is an inevitable occupational challenge for the fields of victim services, emergency medical services, fire services, law enforcement, and other allied professionals; however, organizations can mitigate the potentially negative effects of trauma exposure by becoming vicarious trauma-informed.

U.S. Department of Health & Human Services: Eldercare Locator

This toll free service (800-677-1116) helps older adults and their caregivers find local services for seniors, including home care, transportation, housing alternatives, home repair, recreation, social activities, and legal and other community services. The directory is a service of the U.S. Administration on Aging.

AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. AmeriCorps provides opportunities for Americans to serve their country, address the Nation’s most pressing challenges, and improve lives and communities.

American Red Cross (link is external)

In addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross offers compassionate services in five other areas: community services that help the needy, support and comfort for military members and their families, the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products, educational programs that promote health and safety, and international relief and development programs.

U.S. Department of Justice: Community Relations Service (CRS)

CRS responds to communities experiencing conflict and violence to help restore peaceful relations. Guided by federal laws establishing jurisdictions, CRS assists communities through facilitated dialogue, mediation, training, and consultation to overcome differences and build the skills needed to prevent future disputes.
