Additionally, OVC is charged by Congress with administering set-aside funds from the Crime Victims Fund for a Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside program which provide support to Tribal communities to enhance services for victims of crime.
OVC awards annual Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) crime victim compensation and victim assistance formula grants. The amount of funds available for distribution for the formula grant program each year is dependent upon the total deposits into the Crime Victims Fund in the preceding Federal fiscal year. OVC manages AEAP, which offers five funding streams to provide timely relief to communities affected by domestic terrorism and criminal mass violence for immediate and ongoing victim assistance services in the form of grants.
