Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN)

RAINN operates a 24-hour hotline for English- and Spanish-speaking survivors of sexual assault (call 800-656-HOPE, text HOPE to 64673, or chat online). RAINN provides a safe, secure, and anonymous place for victims to get help. RAINN also works to promote education and prevention of sexual assault and compiles and shares links to legal resources, including the State Mandatory Regulations regarding children and the elderly.

National Sexual Violence Resource Center

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center provides information and tools to prevent and respond to sexual violence. They seek to create lasting change by mobilizing advocates, service providers, leaders, and communities to support survivors, advance victims’ rights, and prevent sexual abuse, assault, and harassment.

National Organization for Victim Advocacy

The National Organization for Victim Advocacy advocates for dignity and compassion for those harmed by crime. Among the services they provide are skill-based and survivor-centered training to victim advocates and crisis responders.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

Contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week toll free at 800-799-7233 or TTY 800-787-3224, through online chat, or by texting START to 88788. Staff are standing by to provide crisis intervention, information about domestic violence, and referrals to local programs. All services are free and confidential.

National Criminal Justice Association

The National Criminal Justice Association represents state, Tribal, and local governments on crime prevention and crime control issues. Its members represent all facets of the criminal and juvenile justice community, including law enforcement, corrections, prosecution, defense, courts, victim-witness services, and educational institutions to federal, state, and local elected officials.

National Crime Victim Law Institute

This organization actively promotes comprehensive and enforceable legal rights for crime victims, and access to knowledgeable attorneys to help protect those rights in every case, through victim centered legal advocacy, education, and resources.

National Crime Victim Bar Association

The National Crime Victim Bar Association educates attorneys, victim service providers, and the general public about civil legal remedies for crime victims. The National Crime Victim Bar Association also provides referrals for crime victims to civil attorneys in their local area.

Bureau of Justice Statistics: Victims of Crime

Discover statistics collected from victims on nonfatal violent and property crimes, reported and not reported to the police, against persons ages 12 or older from a nationally representative sample of U.S. households. Also learn about national data on programs and organizations that serve victims of crime.

The Crime Victims Center

The Crime Victims Center is a community and victims’ rights organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of sexual abuse and the provision of comprehensive, trauma-informed support services to victims of violent crime and elderly, minor, and disabled victims of all crime.

National Adult Protective Services Association

The National Adult Protective Services Association provides state Adult Protective Services program administrators and staff with a forum for sharing information, solving problems, and improving the quality of services for victims of elder and vulnerable adult abuse.

U.S. Department of Defense: Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO)

SAPRO is responsible for oversight of the U.S. Department of Defense's sexual assault policy. SAPRO works hand-in-hand with the military and civilian communities to develop and implement innovative prevention and response programs. This office provides services to victims of crime, including specialized services to victims of sexual assault.

Pathways to Safety International

Pathways to Safety International provides crisis services to victims of crime outside the United States, including the crimes of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Contact them by email at [email protected] for information, support, and referrals.
