Values Clarification Exercises

Still think your values are more or less universal? The next two group exercises might persuade you otherwise. As you compare and discuss the results, please keep these premises in mind:

  1. Everyone is entitled to his or her own values.
  2. There are no right or wrong answers.
  3. Our values are not up for debate. No arguing!
  4. Values are personal, so please respect others' values, even if they're different from yours.
  5. Listen to yourself . . . and others.
  6. Have fun!

Exercise 1: Value Voting
Exercise 2: Ethical Decisionmaking
