Linking Systems of Care for Children and Youth

Learn about a project to coordinate trauma-informed prevention and intervention services, and build communities' capacity to meet victims' immediate and ongoing needs over their life span.

Zero Abuse Project (link is external)

This organization seeks to protect children from abuse and sexual assault by providing education and training, research, advocacy, and advancing technology. The Zero Abuse Project’s website offers a victim assistance section that provides information on survivor support programs.

Linking Systems of Care for Children and Youth Project (link is external)

This demonstration project was designed to reach underserved children, youth, and families in Illinois, Montana, Ohio, and Virginia who are victims of crime. The four demonstration sites worked in their states to meet the needs of children and youth (and their caregivers) who had been exposed to violence. A Coordinator Toolkit(link is external) provides guidance and tools for jurisdictions interested in replicating this project.

Changing Minds (link is external)

This national campaign seeks to raise awareness, teach skills, and inspire public action to address children's exposure to violence and trauma. Funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, this campaign seeks to engage teachers, coaches, counselors, doctors, nurses, law enforcement officers, and other professionals and caregivers on proven ways to help heal the damage of childhood trauma.
